13 - 15 June : Filipinos in Florence

In Gelato Heaven

Trippin'.
Florence sits at the heart of Tuscany. We arrived in Florence midday and used the bus/ tram system to get to our hotel. It's really easy to use and we met a nice Filipino lady who told us where to get off. That's right.. Filipinos in Florence! The bus stop is walking distance to our hotel which is located in a quiet neighborhood just west of the Duomo. We decided to not hit up the museums and just wander the city stopping at all the tourist spots; Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, etc.

Florence is beautiful and perfect for shopping. Their are designer boutiques for those who have cash flowing, but there are also smaller shops for those who are on a budget-- like us! And like any other woman, I like my jewelry-- Moreno glass earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Also, just a short walk from the Duomo is an outdoor flee- market where you can get all your souvenir fix ins. You can bargain here too! Too busy taking pictures of food, we forgot all about capturing the shopping on camera!
Truth be told, we were Florence'd out by the end of the day and wished that we were on the train heading to our next destination. We even attempted to get out but their were no trains leaving Florence to our next destination. Florence is really doable in a day if you choose not to go to the museums. Come in and shop and then proceed forward is what we would suggest. Although best place in Italy for gelato in our opinion.
